Young aspiring driver Sonny Smith will make his British F4 debut with Phinsys by Argenti. Following a promising racing career, most recently claiming a victory in his Ginetta Junior Championship debut race, Sonny is determined to replicate this on the single-seater grid.

Sonny first lined up on the grid at seven years old and showed great promise, leading Sonny to compete in the British Kart Championship where he achieved multiple successes across the years he competed. Progressing to race in Europe in the OKJ series, Sonny secured a podium finish in round one of the 2021 Champions of the Future series.

Following in the footsteps of various iconic drivers, Sonny most recently completed a season in the 2022 Ginetta Junior Championship. The young driver quickly made his presence known, claiming victory on his debut race weekend and going on to secure five podium finishes throughout the season, as well as winning the Rookie Cup in the 2022 Ginetta Winter Series.

Michael Meadows, Phinsys by Argenti Team Principal, comments the following on Sonny joining the team:

“We’re confident in Sonny’s racing abilities, which he has consistently shown as he has moved up the ranks, as well as his commitment to learning from the team as he adapts to racing in a single-seater. Sonny will be a part of a strong, experienced grid of drivers, but this will only allow him to develop.”

With a rigorous testing regime underway in preparation for the young driver’s British F4 debut, Sonny and the team are confident that the 2023 season will allow him to continue to develop his driving skills and racing career.

The 2023 ROKiT British F4 Championship kicks off at Donington Park on the 20th – 23rd April.
